Sukalayar Inn at Tg Resang, Mersing

Since its the monsoon season, going to Tioman would mean being in a ghost town because most shops, restaurants and dive centers are closed during this time period. So where do we go for an adhoc vacation during the school holidays? Desaru? Urm no thanks! Its too crowded and I am not quite a fan of its beach. I want to go somewhere secluded, less touristy and where the beach is clean and beautiful.
Tanjung Resang, Mersing
We drove past the junction to Desaru and headed toward Mersing. After a quick lunch pit-stop at one of the popular restaurants there, we decided to go up north to Air Papan, one of the famous beaches in Mersing. It's apparent that the area has been commercialized with plenty of parking spaces and proper toilets/showers. There were also resorts that we walked-in to query about any vacancies. But we decided not to pursue due to the chalet's distance from the beach, it was not as easily accessible as I wanted it to be. So we moved on.

Hubs mentioned that he has always heard about Tg Resang from his friends and insisted that we stop by, just to see what all the hype was about. Amazing enough, this beautiful stretch of beach is all that fits my needs - private, minimal commercialization, and absolutely pristine. One chalet caught my eye, overlooking the sea, it was a few steps away from the water. I decided that I must spend a night there! So I bossed my hubs to ask the front desk and to my surprise, it was vacant.
The chalet that caught my eye :)
The building has 3 rooms; the 2 rooms on the lower floor cost MYR 200 per night/room and the upper room cost MYR 250 per night. Renting out the whole building costs MYR 600 per night. The upper room was the one vacant, so that was where we spent the night in :)
The room has 2 twin beds with one pull out bed. So it basically fits 3 people perfectly.
Pretty interior with sections of hand woven rattan as the wall

The full moon visible from the room. Lovely!

The chalet was eye catching enough from the outside. I was dying to see what it looked like from within and to be honest, it was the best looking attic-type room that I have ever seen, maybe because it was furnished with Ikea furniture down to the rug. The room is equipped with air conditioning, its own toilet and shower, and a refrigerator.
Her first time at the beach. Having so much fun!
Sukalayar Inn from a near distant
Sukalayar Inn's main building. The upper level is the Sukalayar Inn Suite which rents out for MYR 700 per night.

Sail buggies rented for MYR 40 per hour
It was a nice stay despite a shortcoming of the shower's low water pressure that only happens during the night; this is easily forgiven given the fact that it least affected us. Other than that, it was a great adhoc vacation indeed.
